Description

The Discover Kayaking program lets you experience the excitement of kayaking in a safe environment. During your adventure you will be introduced to fundamental concepts and skills before heading off on a short kayak trip. This course includes pre-launch orientation which establishes basic safety skills and kayak terminology. The on-water orientation initiates the paddler to a foundational set of paddle strokes and maneuvers.

What’s Included?

We provide you with a kayak (paddle and PFD included) to use during your class free of charge.

What’s Not Included? (Recommended)

  • Water / river shoes
  • Warm wool or fleece top (Winter)
  • Waterproof rain jacket or poncho
  • Cold or frozen bottle of water or Gatorade
  • Sun protection (sunhat, sunglasses, sun screen)
  • Towel (to dry off afterwards)
  • Gratuity for your instructor
  • Dress according to the weather (bring extra layers in cold weather)

You will meet your instructor at the public boat ramp at Gleason Lake Park in Deltona.

Directions

Driving Directions

From Orlando:
Get on I-4 E and head towards Deltona.
Take exit 108 toward Debary Ave.
Turn left onto Debary Ave, then take another left onto Deltona Blvd (pass McDonald’s on the left).
Turn right onto Cloverleaf Blvd. then turn left onto E Gaucho Cir.
Your destination will be on the right. We will meet you by the lake front.

Your safety is our top priority. Our kayak lessons are led by professional instructors, certified by the American Canoe Association (ACA), each with years of teaching experience. We’ve developed comprehensive risk management protocols that our instructors adhere to in case of an emergency. Group Size And Age Restrictions

The maximum group size is 5 students. If you have more questions about group size, please give us a call at +1-407-267-9950 and we’ll answer all your questions.

Age restrictions are as follows:

  • 10 years and older to join kayak lessons, underaged require adult supervision.

Weather In Central Florida

Central Florida on average maintains warm temperatures throughout the entire year with slightly lower temperatures during the winter months. Summers, lasting from May to October, are long, warm and particularly humid. Rain showers are common during this time of the year.
